Why Study Studio Art
The Department of Art and Design offers to degree programs in Studio Art. Students may earn a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
The Bachelor of Arts is ideal student has an interest in Studio Art and an interest outside the Department of Art + Design. Pairing Studio Art with other disciplines like Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Journalism, or Psychology results in some exciting new ideas and perspectives.
The BA Art: Studio Art degree allows students to focus on 2 art disciplines like photography and ceramics, for example. There is room in this curriculum for a minor outside the department. So if a student combined this degree with a Psychology minor, they could go to graduate school for art therapy, or combine this degree with a Business minor to go into arts administration.
365bet houses the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts which brings great speakers and exhibiting artists that students are able to meet and assist with installing exhibitions. Students have opportunities to study abroad in Italy, or complete up to two internships at regional museums and galleries. As a 4-year university, we offer coursework in a variety of subject areas that allow for major/minor pairings that are not possible at art institutions.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts is ideal student has a passion for making art and is compelled to express their unique perspective through their work. They enjoy working across a variety of techniques and media to find the means of personal expression.
The BFA Studio Art degree is immersive in that students will complete the General Education Core, and all remaining classes will be Art + Design courses. This is a generalist program, so students do not specialize in any one discipline but learn to express themselves across a variety of art disciplines. This degree concludes with an exhibition of the student’s thesis work. All of this prepares students to exhibit in galleries and otherwise sell their work through personal websites.

What Will I Learn
